The south India temple tour is a 5 nights and 6 days brief
journey that will take you along to some ancient beautifully
carved temples of south India. The tour shall begin from
Chennai - Kanchipuram - Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry
- Swamimalai - Tanjore. The tour will be an exemplification
of pure Dravidian architectural style, spiritually significant
and has a unique identity unlike the temples in the North.
Day 01: Chennai
Chennai will be the stepping-stone to begin the holy South
India Temple Tours. Arrive Chennai, the capital of Tamil
Nadu, here you shall be escorted by our representative
and Tour guide to the hotel. Later we shall leave for
a full day excursion to visit the three ancient temples
of Chennai, the Parthasarthy temple that house the lords
of Srirangam, Narasimha, Tirupati, and Rama. The utsavamurti
is Krishna as Parthasarathy.The second important temple
is the Kapaleeshwarar Temple, lord Shiva is worshiped
here along with Parvati as Karpagambal. The third temple
is the Marundeeshwarar Temple it is said that lord Brahma
himself created this temple. Indra, Surya, Yama, Rama,the
Pandavas and Ratsasu, Brahma's son are worshipped here.
Chennai is also a major attraction for shopping extravaganzas;
the famous Kancheevaram silk sari with golden Zari work
is exceptionally outstanding.
Day 02: Kanchipuram- Mahabalipuram
Early morning we shall drive to Kanchipuram, the land
of thousand temples. At arrival we shall visit the Kamakshi
Amma Temple, this is the only temple that has Lord Shiva
and Parvati is worshiped together. Also it's an embodiment
of the aspects of Parvati, Lakshmi and Saraswati. The
Ekambareshwar Temple is dedicated to lord Shiva was built
by Pallava King. The lingum according to legends was fashioned
by Parvati herself. Vardarajanperumal temple and Sakiswarar
temple are other important holy places to visit. Kanchipuram
is home to more than 5000 families engaged in weaving
and selling some finest silk in the country. In the afternoon
drive to Mahabalipuram once a seaport of the Pallava dynasty.
At arrival transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 03: Mahabalipuram - Pondicherry
Early morning we shall leave for sightseeing tour of
Mahabalipuram also denoted as the "open air museum"
for spectacular architectural structures including Rock
cut caves, temples made of single rock and bas- relief.
Here we shall visit the Shore Temple, The Five Raths,
The Arjuna's Penanace and the Tiger Cave. Also besides
temple this place is also famous for its silver sandy
beaches and classic handicraft. We shall proceed to
drive towards Pondicherry. At arrival, check in to the
hotel for overnight stay.
Day 04: Pondicherry- Swamimalai
After breakfast proceed to visit the city also known
as Vedapuri as in ancient times either teachers or students
of Vedas inhabited here. The sightseeing tour of Pondicherry
will include visit to Aurbindo Ashram and Auroville.
In the afternoon drive to Swamimalai, it has only school
that teaches the art (craft) of making bronze icons
en route visit to Chidambaram, associated with Nataraja,
or Shiva in his Ananda Tandava Pose in the cosmic golden
hall, and Gangaikonda Cholapuram. Arrive at Swamimalai,
and visit the famous temple of lord Karthikeye, later
transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 05: Tanjore
Tanjore is the hub of great living chola temples, and
UNESCO World Heritage Monument famous as Brihadeshwara
temple. Tanjore is also a great attraction for its paintings,
carnatic music, and Bharathanatyam. Overnight stay will
be at the hotel.
Day 06: Departure
Depart to the airport/ railway station for the onward
journey
