Hemis to Zangla by Junglam Trekking

Duration: 11 Days/10 Nights Places Covered: Leh - Hemis - Shang Sumdo - Lartsa Kongmarula - Langthang Chu River - Zalung Karpo La - Zalungkarpola - Tilat Sumdo - Chhar Chhar - Zangla Sumdo - Zangla - Leh

Day 02 : Leh Sight seeing.
We shall begin our day exploring leh, and visiting several monasteries and ruins of the palaces. The sites to visit, includes Shey Palace And Gompa that abodes a 7.5 mts high copper statue of Buddha, plated with gold.

Day 03 : Leh to Hemis Drive and Trek to Shang Sumdo
The thrilling jeep safari is what we shall experience as we move early morning towards Hemis. On arrival we shall visit the Hemis Gompa and if we are lucky enough we can catchthe glimpses of Mask Dance performance by the Lambas of the monasteries. Later start trekking to Shang Sumdo, we shall cross Martselang Bridge, then ascend up to the valley along the river, to reach Sang Sumdo. We shall camp at the Shang Sumdo for overnight stay.

Day 04 : Trek Shang Sumdo to Lartsa Kongmarula
Early morning we shall begin a more rigorous trekking via spectacular landscape, red rocks, then along the river up to Chuskyurmo, pass by several gorges of small rivers before we set to camp at Lartsa below Kongmarula Pass.

Day 05 : Trek Larsa Kongmarula to Langthang Chu river
After breakfast, we shall pack to descend further to Nimaling and later ascend steeply up to Kongmarula Pass that offers a magnificent view of Kang Yatse Peak. From Nimaling up, cross a crest, then descent to a gorgeous valley, cross river, following a rocky slope up to Konga Ngonpo, then again slide down, along a very steep route before reaching a campsite near Male.

Day 06 : Trek Langthang Chu - Zalung Karpo La
After a voyage along the large streams, the valley divides we shall flow with the right one and continue, the route with ups and downs before reaching Zalung Karpo La. We shall Camp right here for the overnight stay.

Day 07 : Trek Zalungkarpola to Tilat Sumdo
Start downhill from the camp towards the main stream. After an hour arrive at Khamak Sumdo, Follow the gorge, to reach Tilat Sumdo situated along the along a rocky terrains and iced Zanskar River.

Day 08 : Tilat Sumdo- Chhar Chhar la
Today we'll have more river voyages. The day starts with some shivers and sizzles as we cross the icy cold river of Changchu and enter into a gorgeous tapered valley until a gorge. Stroll further to spectacular rocky needles where two cold streams traverse. Overnight camp shall be at Charcharla base.

Day 9 : Chhar Chhar- Zangla Sumdo
Following the stream will disclose several remarkable gorges. We finally ascend gradually to the top of Char-Char-La. From the pass we shall have a fine view of the Himalaya ahead of Padum. We further move down steeply along frosty steps to the base of the pass. After crossing a magnificent gorge towards the left,we shall camp along the stream to the large river of Zangla Sumdo, for overnight stay.

Day10 : Zangla Sumdo- Zangla
Early morning we shall begin our day with our last trekking excursion to Zangla. On our way we shall cross the downstream into the Zulung valley. The path goes steadily up to the Zangla castle and then down via the chortens, reaching us to the village of Zangla. Overnight stay will be at the hotel.

Day11 : Zangla- Leh
Early morning we shall wind up the journey towards leh and thereon you shall continue with your onward journey.
