Stone Chariot in Hampi, a world heritage site, in Southern
India will travel through timeless Historical Heritage
Sites, resplendent Palaces, Wildlife and Golden Beaches.
A tour on Royal train journey - The Golden Chariot commences
the journey from Bangalore every Monday and travels through
Mysore, Jungles of Kabini, World Heritage Site - Hampi,
Badami, Aihole, Pattadkal and move onto the Golden Beaches
of Goa before returning back to Bangalore.
The Royal Train Journey - The Golden Chariot enriches
you with the experience of Historical sites, Hoysala architecture,
wildlife of Kabini and Beaches of Goa, thus making it
a complete journey.

on board
Cabin Coaches
The Golden Chariot has a total of 44 air-conditioned cabins
with twin / double beds and 01 cabin is specially designed
for the physically challenged. Every cabin is equipped
with Wi-Fi, LCD television, DVD with 6 satellite channels,
wardrobe, vanity/writing desk and private bathroom with
luxurious amenities and accessories. Ceilings have the
intricate carvings and the furniture is inspired by Mysore
and Hoysala architecture.
Each Cabin has been named after the dynasties that ruled
Karnataka - Kadamba, Hoysala, Rashtrakuta, Ganga, Chalukya,
Bhahamani, Adhilshahi, Sangama, Shathavashna, Yudukula
and Vijayanagar.
Nala and Ruchi - Two Restaurants
The Golden Chariot has two restaurants - Nala and Ruchi.
Nala is named after a king and legendary chef from the
times of the Mahabharata. Ruchi is a name that means fine
taste in Sanskrit. The two restaurants serve a spread
of vegetarian and non-vegetarian culinary delights. Enjoy
the facility of the Lounge Bar with plush and royal interiors
modelled after the Mysore Palace.
In addition to this, The Golden Chariot also has a conference
coach with a seating capacity of 25- 30 guests with the
facility of 42 inch LCD TV and internet surfing area,
a fully equipped Gym Coach and Ayurveda Centre with Spa
with 02 massage rooms.

Visit the beautiful city of Mysore that
is known for its fine craftsmen ship
in wood, ivory, sandal-wood and for
its silk. Visit the Maharaja's Palace,
which is lavishly decorated in a mixture
of styles. Also visit the Zoological
Garden, Mysore Arts & Crafts centre
and then proceed to the Chamundi Temple
on a hill above the city. |

Drive through lush tropical landscapes
to Halebid and Belur - Built in the
12th and 13th century in the superb
baroque style, these temples are carved
of stone and are truly magnificent.
As one architect and critic said "These
friezes carved with a minute elaboration
of detail are one of the most marvellous
exhibitions of human labour to be found
even in the patient East". The
temple at Belur is famed for its profusely
ornamented exterior, and the one at
Halebid for its sculptured figures and
open-air museum. Also visit the colossal
monolithic Jain statue, 57-ft high,
which stands on top of a steep bare
hill. |

Visit Sravanabelagola and the famous
Jain Temple.
Sravanbelgola famous for
its colossal statue of the Jain Saint
Gomateshwara. 614 steps lead to his
monolithic statue 18 meters tall and
standing atop the hill of Indragiri.
Every 12 years Jains from all over India
gather here for the spectacular bathing
festival of the statue. |

Drive to Hampi
Visit Hampi - A world heritage centre,
Hampi is the most beautiful and evocative
of all the ruins in Karnataka. The erstwhile
capital of Vijayanagara kingdom, Hampi
is full of delightful surprises. Like
the King's balance where kings were
weighed against grain, gold or money
which was then distributed to the poor.
The Queen's bath with its arched corridors,
projecting balconies and the lotus-shaped
fountains that once sprayed perfumed
water, the two storied Lotus Mahal with
recessed archways, the huge Elephant
stables. The splendid Vithala temple
with its musical pillars and the stone
chariot, the Virupaksha temple - still
used for worship, Ugra Narasimha the
6.7m tall monolith. The Pushkarini Tank
and the Mahanavami Dibba and many other
interesting sites that are still being
excavated. |

| |
Aihole - famous as
the cradle of Indian temple architecture
- has over 125 temples, all intricately
carved and rich in detail. The oldest
temple here, is perhaps the 5th century
Lad Khan. The Durgigudi is particularly
interesting and unique, being circular
in shape and surmounted by primitive
gopuram. The Hutchmall temple, the Ravalpadi
cave temple, the Konti temple complex,
the Uma Maheshwari temple, the Jai Meguthi
temple and the two-storied Buddhist
temple are the other attractions at
Aihole. |

Pattadakal has 10
major temples representing early Chalukyan
architecture. It lies on the banks of
the river Malaprabha and used to be
the place where the Chalukyan Kings
(7 to 9 century) were crowned. The oldest
temple in this group is the Sanghmeshwara.
The Mallikarjuna temple has pillars
depicting the birth and life of Krishna.
The largest of the temples, the Virupaksha
has sculptures and panels depicting
scenes from the epics, the Ramayana
and Mahabhararta. The Papanath temple
in the northern style has impressive
carvings on pillars and on the ceiling. |
